CAN’T GET ENOUGH Synopsis:

New York Times best selling author Gena Showalter returns with a sizzling Original Heartbreakers tale, featuring a rough, tough bad boy brought to his knees by... a kindergarten teacher? The king of one-night stands... To inherit--and destroy--his father’s business at long last, Brock Hudson needs a temporary wife. The ruthless ex-military heartthrob has always avoided romantic entanglements. Women are sweet, but vengeance will be sweeter. Or so he thinks. Only one woman will do, but the vulnerable beauty is more than he bargained for—sexier, wittier, and utterly irresistible.

The queen of the deep freeze… After an abusive first marriage, Lyndie Scott has sworn off relationships. But still she longs for a child of her own. Turns out, the brawler who used to frighten her with only a glance is the answer to her problems. She agrees to his proposal, with a caveat: spend every night in bed with her, then walk away for good when it’s time to divorce. Even if she’s pregnant.

A marriage of breathtaking inconvenience... As the days pass too quickly and the nights heat up, Brock battles a sense of possession and obsession. Will the former commitment-phobe convince his wife they’re better off together, or will she pack her bags and go?

Review

I’ve been waiting on this book since I first learned of both Brock and Lyndie. Lyndie is the shy one, who doesn’t trust men due to being abused most of her life. By the hand of her father and her husband. Men like Brock scare her but Brock has a gentleness to him that Lyndie can feel and see. He would never hurt her.

While Brock would never hurt Lyndie, he does have a darkness in him that stems from childhood. Not only that, but he has PTSD from being in military. All that doesn’t ever stop him from treating Lyndie with all the respect and love she deserves.

The best part about the book for me was the marriage of convenience trope. I can’t help it, that’s one of my favorites. Another trope I love is when the heroine is looking for a donor. A sperm donor that is. Lyndie doesn’t feel complete without a baby in her arms. Brock never wanted kids or a relationship; so while he’s getting married for convenience, he doesn’t want it to last.

Will the two be able to get what they want without falling in love? I for one can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this story. Lyndie and Brock are perfect for each other in every way that counts. The appearances of the other characters made me so giddy. I love them. Overall, while this can technically can be read as a standalone, I absolutely recommend reading all the other books first! Starting with the very first one, The Closer You Come, where it all started.
